Border Cross Over- Mt. Killimanjaro: 8 Days Rongai/ Marangu/ Marangu

DAY 1: Transfer to Loitokitok (Kibo slopes cottages/ Snow cap cottages- in Tanzania) for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: After morning clearance with Kenyan customs, transfer from to customs Rongai in Tanzania, 6km from Loitokitok. After immigration transfer a further 2km Rongai starting point 2100m where the mountain crew will be waiting. The climb starts through the natural rain forest where Colobus monkey can be viewed. Overnight is spent in the tents at the 1st cave 2800m.

DAY 3: You start in the morning walking through moorland to the Kikelewa caves- 3600m. The climb takes about 6hrs with a lunch break at the 2nd caves 3300m. Overnight is spent in tents.

DAY 4: After breakfast, you continue towards Mawezi Tarn Hut (4330m). Lunch will be taken on the way. From the Tarn Hut you will enjoy magnificent view towards Kibo- your final target. Experienced rock climbers can opt to conquer Harn Meyer peak (5149m), however at their own risk. The night will be spent in tents because the hut is rather small.

DAY 5: After your last good rest before the summit ascend, you hike to school Hut (4750m). The walk takes about 6hrs and leads through alpine desert (screed and stones). Overnight is spent in hut or tents.

DAY 6: After a short night and a hot drink, the final ascend starts about 1.30a.m. The path leads through gradually steeper getting screed to the Gillman's point (5685m) from where you can watch and magnificent ice fields. After a short break you can proceed along the crater rim to the Uhuru peak (5895m) reaching at a about 9.00a.m. After your summit photo, you then descend to Kibo hut for lunch before dropping to Horombo Hut (3720m) where the night will be spent.

DAY 7: The final leg which takes about 4 hrs starts heading for Marangu Gate (1800m). Here you will be awarded a certificate before proceeding to Capricon Hotel for a hot shower, dinner and overnight.

DAY 8: Transfer to Nairobi.
