Mt. Elgon- Kenyan Side: 6 Days Masaba/ Mbere

DAY 1: Transfer from Nairobi heading towards Nakuru via Eldoret to Kitale by local means transport. Lunch enroute. If late the night will be spent in a hotel in Kitale or rather at Mt. Elgon Lodge if early enough. Dinner and overnight at the either of the two.

DAY 2: After breakfast, if in Kitale proceed to the Edibis towards the Rongai Gate via Mt. Elgon Lodge to Kapkurwa Bandas. Lunch at the campsite. After lunch there will be a short walk to the nearest caves (Nature walk) where you can spot Genet cats. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

DAY 3: After breakfast at seven o'clock you will be joined by KWS rangers who will accompany you to Kiptum Caves. Popularly known as the 'famous Elephant caves' where Buffaloes and Elephants visits to lick minerals. Lunch at Kiptum Caves. After lunch the hike continues heading to the road head. The camp will be set at a designated site depending with the group pace. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

DAY 4: After morning meals the hike proceeds to the road head as the nearest hiking base to the Kenyan highest peaks (Koitoboss). Dinner and overnight at road head.

DAY 5: Accompanied by the KWS rangers you will make to the top from Kenyan side. Departure time will be at 5.30am and you will be at point Koitoboss (4187m) at around 6.30am for sunrise. Breakfast will be at the camp. Your descend takes a different route (Mbere route) closer to the modern life. The night will be spent at a camp or in a hotel together with the crew.

DAY 6: There will be a short walk after breakfast where after saying goodbye to your crew you will connect your vehicle for the transfer of your next destination.
